Andy,
I’m digging this song “California Analog Dream” by Vondelpark who are from your lovely city. Their album Seabed is out April 1, 2013.

To Taylor & anyone else who reads this blog,
I FINALLY got around to creating a 2012 Review Mixtape, here are the download links!

This is a collection of 84 (!) songs that I liked in 2012. Some were new in 2012, some are older from artists I liked in that year. It all flows.
It’s around 700ish mb so I’ve split it into 5 parts for easy download, playlist file is in Part 5.
Download each part and copy all the files into one folder and you can import that into iTunes.
If you like the music please support the Artists any way you can!

Andy,
I’ve been in a bit of a music rut lately and haven’t heard much new stuff that I’m crazy about (hence my lack of posting.) However, I have always been a My Morning Jacket fan, which is why I am excited for Jim James’ forthcoming solo album, Regions of Light and Sound of God out February 5th. The first single is “Know Til Now” and I love it.

Andy,
Lately I have been listening to the album Colored Emotions (2012) from Night Moves a lot. I love this song “Headlights.” NYC is starting to feel so festive! Christmas lights and trees are going up all over the city. It is cold outside, but not unbearably so. ‘Tis the season or something.

Andy,
Happy Halloween! Hurricane Sandy has put a bit of a damper on me feeling festive.
I was fortunate enough to make it through Sandy unscathed, but NYC is still far from being back to normal. Some of my friends and family members are still without power and water.
In other news I have been enjoying Chad Valley lately. This is “Now That I’m Real (How Does It Feel?)” from his Equatorial Ultravox EP.

Andy,
To be honest, ever since I saw Neil Young & Crazy Horse play a couple weeks ago that is all I have wanted to listen to. However, I have been loving How to Dress Well’s new album Total Loss. The sound is a bit of a departure from the last album. While I enjoyed Love Remains, the new album is a touch more clean and vocal focused, it is easier to make out what is being said. Total Loss reminds me slightly of The Weeknd. “& It Was U” is a beautiful song and a perfect example of how great the vocals sound on the album.
CMJ is this week— will report back on the bands I see.

SBTRKT - Terminal
To Taylor,
New SBTRKT, sounds a lot like an old Modeselektor song that I’ll post too

Andy,
I posted about Rhye once before and their Open EP. They just released “The Fall” as a preview of their EP coming out on October 9th. Every song I have heard from Rhye so far has been incredibly beautiful and smooth. I can’t wait for the new EP.

Andy,
Today Body Language’s Grammar EP came out and I am impressed with it. They are one of my favorite, if not my favorite local band. The three songs on the EP are all great; ”Lose My Head” is fun, upbeat, and funky while “The First” and “I’m a Mess” are smooth and groovy. Angelica and Matt’s voices work really well together. I highly recommend purchasing it.

Andy,
I saw Wild Nothing play for the first time in 2010 at a free show on Governor’s Island. I bought Gemini and was a fan from that moment on. A couple of weeks ago I went to see WIld Nothing play a show with Grimes at Hudson River Park. They played some songs from their new album Nocturne and it made me excited for the release on August 28th. I love this song, “Shadow.”

To Taylor,
I like this new Dirty Beaches track, his music can often take you to a different place emotionally, and this track is no different.

Andy,
Bombay Bicycle Club is a band I have been a fan of for years. I LOVE this Bombay Bicycle Club Remix of “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men. London trip soon!
