Happy Halloween! Hurricane Sandy has put a bit of a damper on me feeling festive.
I was fortunate enough to make it through Sandy unscathed, but NYC is still far from being back to normal. Some of my friends and family members are still without power and water.
In other news I have been enjoying Chad Valley lately. This is “Now That I’m Real (How Does It Feel?)” from his Equatorial Ultravox EP.

I posted about Rhye once before and their Open EP. They just released “The Fall” as a preview of their EP coming out on October 9th. Every song I have heard from Rhye so far has been incredibly beautiful and smooth. I can’t wait for the new EP.

I saw Wild Nothing play for the first time in 2010 at a free show on Governor’s Island. I bought Gemini and was a fan from that moment on. A couple of weeks ago I went to see WIld Nothing play a show with Grimes at Hudson River Park. They played some songs from their new album Nocturne and it made me excited for the release on August 28th. I love this song, “Shadow.”

I’m not sure if you remember, but Lesands is the band that we tried to go see at SXSW 2011, but the venue overbooked and cancelled their set last minute. We ended up seeing Yoko Ono instead. I have really enjoyed Lesands’ Sweet Skin EP (listen here) over the past year and a half, so I’m pleased that they have released a new song.
